I, LULA BARNES CLARK, do solemnly swear that I am the mother of HOMER BARNES and have the custody of Homer Barnes and the said Homer Barnes is only seventeen years of age and has no means of support and he is dependent on me and there is a certain sum of money in the hands of the Judge of Probate of Covington County, Ala., belonging to the said Homer Barnes, said amount having been paid into the Probate Court by the Circuit Clerk of Covington County, Alabama, and the said Homer Barnes is now in destitute and necessitous circumstances and is in need of his money for his support, maintenance and education, and said amount paid into the Probate Court on the 4th day of February, 1929, by the Circuit Clerk was $54.17 and on March the 27th, 1929, I requested the Probate Judge to pay to Homer Barnes $5.00 of the above amount in order for Homer to buy for himself one pair of shoes and said amount having been on savings account, there has accumulated a few cents interest and after deducting the Five dollars paid to Homer Barnes and eighty two cents paid to the Probate Court, as his commission for handling this matter, there remains to the credit of Homer Barnes $48.63, which amount is in the hands of the Probate Judge of Covington County, Ala. and I, as the MOTHER and custodian of HOMER BARNES do hereby request H. J. Brogden, Judge of Probate, to pay to me the said $48.63 as the mother of said Homer Barnes, for the support and education of the said Homer Barnes.

I, H. J. Brogden, Judge of Probate, in and for the said County, in said State, after reading the affidavit of Mrs. Lula Barnes Clark, who is known to me, to be the mother and to have custody of Homer Barnes, a minor, and believing it to be the best interest of Homer Barnes to pay to his mother, Mrs. Lula Barnes Clark, the above named sum of $48.63, which is the estate of Homer Barnes, and believing that Mrs. Lula Barnes Clark is a suitable person to handle said money to the best interest of said minor, it is ordered and adjudged by the Court and it is the judgment and order of the Court that the above named $48.63, which is all that is deposited in this Court at this time, to the credit of Homer Barnes, be paid to his mother, Mrs. Lula Barnes Clark.

I, Lula Barnes Clark, do hereby certify that I am the mother of and have the custody and control of Homer Barnes, a minor about seventeen years of age, and I further certify that I requested the Court on the 27th day of March, 1929 to pay Homer Barnes $5.00 to buy him a pair of shoes, which transaction I requested and hereby receipt for in full, and I further certify that I have this day received of H. J. Brogden, Judge of Probate, of Covington County, Ala. $48.63, for Homer Barnes, a minor which is all the money that the said H. J. Brogden, as Judge of Probate has in his custody for the said Homer Barnes, and I hereby receipt him in full, as I have received all the money that is due the said Homer Barnes by the said Judge of Probate of said Covington County, Ala.

Notes:
Lula Brogden married H. Leonard Barnes in Covington Co. AL. ~~Homer was their son.
Leonard Barnes was shot dead in 1915 at a picnic.
H.L.(Leonard) Barnes - Feb. 24, 1890 - July 3, 1915 & Lula Barnes Feb. 24,1883 - Dec. 19, 1943
are buried together in Oak Grove Cemetery in Covington Co.

Lula Barnes remarried Jim Clark on Sept. 15th 1920 in Covington Co.
