 Mrs. Appling, the mother of  Mr. Steve and J. A. Appling died at the residence of her 
son Steve on Tuesday night. She was very old and much esteemed by neighbors and friends.

Mrs. Ada Florence Appling, 84, of 602 South Main, Pasadena,
passed away Sunday in a local hospital. After 20 years of  service at Pasadena General 
Hosptial she retired at age 83. She was a member of the South Main Baptist Church of Pasadena.
Resident of Pasadena 38 years. Survivors: Daughter, Mrs. R. L. Worthington, Pasadena; son,    Gaden Appling, Houston; sister, Mrs. Irene Mills, Bryan; brothers, Kelly Isbell, Navasota, Edwin 
Isbell, Houston; five  granddaughters; one grandson; seven great-grandsons. Funeral services 3 p.m. Tuesday Colonial Funeral Chapel with Dr. B. J. Martin officiating. Brawder "Doc" Aplin,
68 passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at a local hospital. He was born July 12, 1935 in Headland,
Al., He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a commercial fisherman. He had been a Rockport resident for more than 20 years. He is survived by his wife Jan Aplin of Rockport; his children Brandon Aplin and Sterlon Aplin, both of Seadrift, Sharon Sabai, Brad Aplin and Chris Aplin, all of Houston, Linda Caufman of Fort Worth; and Regina Jeter of Woodsboro, four sisters; nine grandchildren; one-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 22 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 23  at 10 a.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyce Laqua officiating. 
Interment will follow at Rockport Cemetery.


Brawder Thomas Aplin- Grand Chanier, Lousianna 
Funeral Services for Brawder Thomas Aplin, 80, will be 2:30 p.m.
Thursday December 4, in First Baptist Church. The REv. Jack Tanner will officiate. Burial will be in the Crain Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Creole. Visitation in the Church is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8:00 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Aplin died Tuesday December 02, 1997 in Creole. A Native of Barbour County, Alabama he was a member of  the First Baptist Church of Grand Chenier, The NRA, AARP, survivors include, his wife Sarah Irene Holland Aplin, one son Brawder Adolphus Aplin, Rockport, Texas, Four daughters, Sarah Vinson, of San Leon, Texas, Zonie Aplin Furge and Margaret Richard, Both of Grand Chenier and Laura Rupp of Orlando, Florida.

     C. J. Aplin 69, of Malvern, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1989 in Moultrie, Ga., Hospital.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Taylor Assembly of God Church with Ministers Robert
Rodgers and Eddie Littlefield officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Assembly of God
Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends

Mr. Aplin was born in Dale County, and lived his adult life in the Malvern community. 
He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Taylor Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lacy McDaniel Aplin, Malvern; sons and daughter in laws, 
Julius and Judy Aplin, Charles and Gail Aplin, Max and Edna Aplin, James Aplin; daughters and sons in law, Hazel and Charlie Shirah, Betty and Pete Thomas, Linda and Dan Hussey, Janiceand Grady Etheridge, sisters; Edna Freeman, Bessie Chambers; Brother Q.P. Aplin; 24 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. David Appling, age 82, died at the home of his son, ten miles from Clayton. He was receiving a pension for his services in The Indian War.

Gaden Cohen  Appling, 80, a longtime resident of Houston, died Thursday, June 9, 1994 in a local hospital. He was a member of Park Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Appling, daughter, Dianna Appling Pledger of Franklin, Tenn. and Nelda Appling Hale of Houston and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 1994, at  Land O Woods Chapel in forest Park Lawndale cemetery with Rev. Kevin Barefield officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Jimmy Lamar Aplin-Newton-Funeral services for Jimmy Aplin 24, who died Thursday in an automobile accident, were held yesterday at the Newton Baptist Church. The Revs. James Mitchell and the Rev. Gaines officiated. Burial in Bethel Baptist Cemetery was directed by Johnson Funeral Home. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Aplin, Newton; and  five sisters,

 Jimmy Mack Aplin
Jimmy Mack Aplin, 37 of Dothan Rt. 5 died Thursday morning, June 18,1992, of injuries 
sustained in a tractor accident which occurred at the Aplin farm.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in  Slocomb with the
 Revs. Dan Raley, Troy Walsingham and John Wayne Hicks officiating and Byrd Funeral
 Home directing. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Slocomb.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.
The family will receive friends at Byrd Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight. 
    Jimmy Mack was born April 6, 1955 in Geneva County, and lived in Slocomb all his life.
 He was a 1972 graduate of Slocomb High School and was engaged in farming all his adult life.
 At the time of his death, he was manager of Aplin Hog Farm. He was a member of the Young 
Farmer Association (Rehobeth) where he served as an officer and was  also a member of the Geneva County Pork Producers Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Slocomb.
Jimmy Mack was predeceased by his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Aplin, and Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Williams.
     Survivors, include his wife, Jennifer Harrell Aplin, Dothan Rt. 5; a son  Jimmie Lee Aplin, Dothan Rt. 5; a daughter Emily Brooke Aplin, Dothan  Rt. 5; his parents Q.P. and Vera Mae Aplin, Dothan, Rt. 5; four brothers  and two sisters in law, Gerald and Beverly Aplin, Slocomb Rt.2, Lamar  and Rhonda Aplin, Dothan Rt. 1, Ronnie Aplin, Slocomb Rt. 1, Tommy Aplin, Dothan Rt. 5; and several nieces and nephews.  Serving as active pallbearers will be James Harrell, Danny Smith, John Hughes, Kim Hughes, Joe Neil Howell, Eddie Watson, Marty Collins and Albert Adams.

The Clayton Record    Friday, June 13, 1902 
  Mr. Joe Appling died at his home near Texasville on last Friday morning. 
The immediate cause of his death was blood poisoning from an amputated arm. 
Mr. Appling served his country during the 4 years of civil strife and was a brave soldier. He was a good neighbor, a true friend, whose demise is greatly to be deplored.
Funeral services were held at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church on last Saturday.

Mrs. Josie B. Aplin
Funeral Services for Mrs. Josie B. Aplin 50, of Dothan Rt. 1, who died at her home yesterday following a long illness, Funeral is set for 3 p.m. today at Bethel Church with interment in the 
Church Cemetery.
   She had been a resident of her community for the past six years and a member of Bethel Church. The Rev. Mr. Hall was to officiate with Ward Wilson Funeral Home of Dothan in charge of arrangements.
  Surviving are the husband, Robertson Aplin, of Dothan Rt. 1; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Freeman of Slocomb and Mrs. Bessie Reeves of Dothan Rt. 1; two sons, C. J. Aplin and Q.P. Aplin of Dothan Route 1; and nine grandchildren. Active pallbearers were J. B. McDaniel, Delmar McDaniel, D. C. Freeman, Otis Ward, Morris Edwards, and Clarence Vinson.

Lacy Aplin
Mrs. Lacy Aplin 87,  a resident of the Malvern Community passed away Monday, 
February 11, 2002, at Extendicare Health and Rehab Center following a brief illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Taylor Assembly of God with the Rev. Charles Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Assembly of God Cemetery with Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Aplin's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be excepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan Ala., 36302. Mrs. Aplin was born on August 13, 1914 in Dale County,
the daughter of the late Joseph Dennis and Della Camilla Connor McDaniel. She has lived in Geneva County since 1945. She was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. She was a Member of Taylor Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, C. J. Aplin; 
four brothers, J. B. McDaniel, Howard McDaniel, Delmar McDaniel,and Harvey McDaniel; a grandson, David Allen Hussey; a granddaughter Montene Aplin; two great-grandchildren, Cierra Aplin and Martha Elizabeth Aplin.
   Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel an Dennis Jackson, 
Rehobeth, Betty and Pete Thomas, Clayhatchee, Linda and Daniel Hussey,
Enterprise, Janice and Grady Etheridge, Malvern; four sons and daughters-
in-law, Julian and Judy Aplin, Malvern, Charles and Gail Aplin, Rehobeth,
Max and Edna Aplin, Slocomb, James and Linda Aplin, Florence, S.C.;
one sister, Vedora Sellers, Daleville; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Malcom Aplin-56, Avon, died Friday morning in a Dothan hospital as a result of injuries on June 7 when a house trailer fell an struck him. Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Ward Wilson Funeral chapel with the Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery, U. S. 84 East.
     The body will be at the residence in Avon until noon today when it will be returned to the funeral chapel. A native of Dale County, he moved to Barbour County at an early age an lived there a number of years. He then moved to Houston County where he had lived the past 23 years. He had resided in Avon for the past ten years. He was a Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Merle Williams Aplin, Avon; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith, Mrs. Joan Gashaw, Avon; Mrs. Margaret Melisa Adams, Dothan; one son, Mack Aplin, Avon; one brother, Arthur Aplin, Bessemer; seven grandchildren.

     Mrs. Margaret Young Aplin of Newton, died Sunday, October 26, 2003 in Thomaston Health and Rehab, Thomaston, Georgia. She was 84. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003 in  Newton City Cemetery with Reverend David Willis officiating. Interment will follow with Coggins Funeral Home of Thomaston,  Georgia, directing. The family will receive friend from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, October 28, 2003, at the home of Mrs. Aplin, 261 King Street in Newton.

Myron Steve Aplin  -Newton
Myron Steve Aplin 40 of Newton died Monday, December 14, 1992, at
Flowers Hospital following an extended illness.
Graveside service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Newton City Cemetery with the Rev. Mary Beth Cloyd officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Margaret Aplin King St. Newton. Flowers are being accepted or memorial may be made to First United Methodist Church, Newton, Ala. 36352.
Mr. Aplin was born May 26, 1952, in Dale County and lived in Newton most all his life. He was a graduate of Dale County High School and attended  George C. Wallace Community College and Troy State
University in Troy. He was employed by GTE prior to his illness.
Mr. Aplin was a member of Newton United Methodist Church. Mr. Aplin was preceded in death by his father, William O. Aplin Sr., who died in March 1992.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Aplin, Newton; a brother William O. "Bill" Aplin, Thomaston, Ga., a sister Barbara Bush, Webb; and several nieces and nephews.

Nelda Appling Hale, born February 17, 1946, passed away November 24, 2000 after two 
and a half year battle with cancer. She was a long time resident of Houston, Texas and is survived by her husband: J. R. Hale, four children: Marcey Hale, Martinak, Randi Alison Hale, Andy Hale, Aaron Hale, Mother: Ruby Appling of Houston, sister: Dianna Appling Pledger of Tampa, Florida, and brother-in-law Dr. W. Jackson Pledger of Tampa, Fla., a very special aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Bill Naylor of Houston and various nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26th at Forest park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2000 at Forest Park Lawndale Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Q. P. Aplin, 76 of Rt. 5 Dothan (Slocomb Community), died Saturday
July 03, 1999 at Flowers Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be
held Monday at 2 p.m. at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dan Raley, Coley Holloway 
and Bryan Roney officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery near Fayette on Geneva County
Rd. 49, with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Route 5, Slocomb, Ala. 36375. Mr. Aplin was born January 25, 1923 in Dale County and 
resided the early years of his life in Barbour County before moving to Geneva County in 1939. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Aplin was engaged in 
farming all of his working career and was instrumental in organizing the Geneva County Growers
Association, where he was one of the original stock holders. He was well known as one of the first Slocomb Tomato Growers and was also owner of Aplin's Produce. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. Survivors include his wife, Vera Mae Williams Aplin
, four sons, Gerald Aplin and his wife Beverly, Slocomb, Lamar Aplin and his wife, Rhonda, Dothan, Ronnie Aplin and his wife Barbara, Slocomb, and Tommy Ray Aplin, Dothan, a daughter in law Jennifer Aplin. Dothan; 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two sisters, Edna Earl Freeman, Slocomb, and Bessie Chambers, Dothan. Mr. Aplin was predeceased by his parents Robinson and Josie York Aplin, and a son Jimmy Mack Aplin. Serving as active Pallbearers will be Mr. Aplins grandsons.

 Roberson Aplin died at his home on Rt. 2, Slocomb, early today after an illness of several weeks, he was 61. Mr. Aplin was born in Dale County  and had lived near Malvern in Geneva County since 1944 where he farmed. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Bethel Baptist Church, with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing burial in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Aplin; two sons, Q.P. Aplin, Rt.1 Graceville, and C. J. Aplin, Malvern two daughters, Mrs. Edna Freeman, Rt. 4, Graceville, and Mrs. Bessie Bruner, Rt. 5, Dothan; a brother Roy  T. Aplin, Newton; a sister Ella Clark, Rt. 1, Newton; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and Nephews.

Robert Lewis Appling, age 90, Rt 1, Columbia, died Sunday night, May 20, 2001 in a Dothan Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will  be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Rev. James A. Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Springs Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times the  family will be at the home of his son Bob Appling, 1213 Co. Rd. 125, Headland. Mr. Appling was born and reared in Barbour County in the Baker Hill Community, the son of the late James Jay Appling and Ila Smith Appling. He  lived most of his life in the Camp Springs Community near Columbia. Mr. Appling was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and also as Treasurer in earlier years.  A retired farmer,  Mr. Appling formerly owned and operated Appling Garage and also Appling Trucking both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by  his wife Blanche Mourning Appling.
   Surviving relatives include a son, Bob Appling and his wife June Appling, Headland, Dorothy Collier and her husband, Jack W. Collier, Douglasville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Lori Moore, and her husband, Jim Moore, Birmingham, Al.; Amanda Rudd and her husband Jason Rudd, Dothan; Robert E. Appling, Auburn University; two great-grandchildren, Milton Moore and Harrison Rudd.

Roy T. "Jake" Aplin, 69, Newton, died early today in an Ozark hospital following a long illness. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home, Ozark, directing. The body will be at the family residence from 4:30 today until placed in the church at 2 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Velma Aplin, Newton; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Tharpe, Ozark, Mrs. Curtis Trawick, Daleville, Mrs. Clara Williams, Newton, Mrs. Martin K. Gilley, Mrs. Elizabeth Cummings, Dothan,  a sister Mrs. Ella Clark, Newton, nine grandchildren.

Navasota-Services for Sydney E. Appling, 90, of Millican are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. George Hogan will officiate. Burial will be at Peach Creek Cemetery. visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Appling died Sunday in Millican. He was born in Keith and was and auto body repairman. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant and was a member of the Millican Heritage Society. He wasa Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Lambert Appling. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lorenz of Navasota; a grandchild, anda great-grandchild.

 Newton-Mrs. Velma J. Aplin, 71 Helms Drive, Newton, died at her home Monday morning after a brief illness. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Newton Baptist Church with the Rev. David Curry and the Rev. Charles Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. today until one hour before service time, when the body will be taken to the church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from6-8 p.m. today. Mrs. Aplin was a member of the Newton Baptist church and a native and lifelong resident of Dale County. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Clara Williams, Newton, Mrs. Mary Sue Gilley, Dothan, Mrs. Ramona Tharpe Henderson, Ozark, Mrs. Elizabeth A.Cummings, Dothan, three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Layfield, Cuthbert, Ga., Mrs.Gladys Jackson, Macon, Ga., Mrs. Mae Marchman, Dothan, nine grandchildren, five great-granchildren.

William Ellis Appling Sr., 51, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at  Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 1997, in the Kent Thornton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Sam Brassell officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Pansey, ala., with the Kent Thornton Funeral Home directing. the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Appling was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eunice Marie Lomineck Appling and a brother in law, Tony Earl Hartzog. Mr. Appling was a resident of Ashford, living in this area since the age of 15. He was employed by Sony for the past 19 years as a chief engineer. Mr. Aplin was a native resident of Newton, where he owned and operated 
Aplin's Superette for 30 years, and was also engaged in farming. He was a member of

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Young Aplin, Newton, a daughter, Barbara Bush, Webb; two sons, William O. Aplin jr., Thomaston, Ga., Myron Steve Aplin, Newton; a sister, Mary Hatcher Griffin, Enterprise; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

  Clayton-Mrs. Nettie Mae Baxley, 67, died Wednesday, February 3, at the Dale County Hospital in Ozark following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Friday, February 5, at 11 a.m. from the Corinth Baptist Church with the REV. Dowling Woodham and the Rev. T. W. Allen officiating. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Baxley's survivors include her husband, Johnnie Baxley,  Clayton Route Two; one daughter Elouise Campbell, Clayton, Route two; one son Henry Baxley, Demopolis; and three Brothers;

formerly of  Columbus, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in Parkhill Cemetery, according to 
Striffer-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born in Barbour County, Ala., on April 6, 1914, daughter of the late Daniel H. Grantham and Iomia Aplin Grantham. She had lived in Columbus for many years where she attended Edgewood Assembly of God. She was retired from Tom's Foods, Inc. Her son, Earl B. Watson and her daughter, Doris M. Otto, preceded her in death. Survivors include four grandsons, Stephen E. Watson of Abbeyville, Ga., Donald E. Watson of Sylvester, Ga., Michael P. Watson of Ray City, Ga., and  William T. Watson of
Sylvester; 10 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a brother Louie Grantham of Eufaula, Ala.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Campbell, and a brother, Clyde Baxley. A. B. Clark former Houston County Sheriff,  62 of 2706 S. Park Ave.
died Saturday in a local hospital after an extended illness. The funeral wil 4 p.m. today in Cloverdale United Methodist Church  with the Dr. Robert Baggott and the Revs. Jesse Guy an Emory Evans   officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour before service time. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that contributions be made in Mr. Clark's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1810 Montgomery Highway 36303 or to the Alabama Sheriff's Boys Ranch or the Alabama Girls Ranch, Rt. 1 Box 12, Clayton, Ala. 36016.
A native of Newton, Mr. Clark had lived in the Wiregrass all his life, and had reside in Dothan for the past 35 years. He was elected sheriff of Houston County in 1966 and held that office until 1982. He currently served as president of the Alabama Sheriff's Association in 1969 and was instrumental in the building of the Houston House located at the Alabama Sheriff's Boys Ranch in 1978. He also organized the jr. Deputy Program in Houston County in 1968. Mr. Clark was a member of the Dothan Elks Club, Dothan Lions Club, and attended Cloverdale Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Runell Clark, Dothan, two sons and daughters in law. Mr. and Mrs. Alan (Marty) Clark, Dothan, Dr. and Mrs. Ken (Becky) Clark, Dothan, two daughters and sons in law, Shelia and  Lt. Col. Jim Mills, Austin, Texas, Jan and Michael Hembree, Carrollton, Ga., three brothers, Murray D. Clark, John L. Clark, and Charles H.Clark; four sisters,  Inez C. Finn, Evelyn C. Daughtry, Sue C. Lee, and Vernell C. Helms; 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Charles Harold Clark, a resident of Milton, Fla, and a former resident 
of Dothan, died Monday, November 08, 2004, in Pensacola, Fla. He
was 73. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Byrd Funeral 
Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 tonight. Flowers are being accepted

Fe. 14, 1931, in Dale County, Ala, and lived the early years of his life
in Newton, Ala. In 1950, he moved to Dothan and was the owner and 
operator of Southern Auto Sales, as well as Clark's Barbeque. Later
he was associated with Bondy's Ford and also was engaged in the
security business with DSI. for the past year, he has resided in Pensacola,
Fla. Mr. Clark was a former member of the Civitan Club, Kiwanis Club,
and the Dothan Elks Lodge. He attended First Baptist Church in Milton,
Fla. Mr. clark is predeceased by his wife, Betty Ann Beasley Clark; two
sisters, Inez Finn and Evelyn Daughtry; and a brother A. B. Clark jr.
Survivors include his two daughters, Ava Clark Snellgrove and her 
husband, Ricky, Milton, Fla., Laura Smith and her husband Steve, Dothan
five granchildren, Brandon Snellgrove and his wife Lisa Trent Snellgrove,
Krista Greathouse, Kameron Greathouse and Abby Smith, a great grandchild, 
Trevor Patterson, Two brothers, Murray Clark and John Clark, both of Dothan; 
and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The body will be at the funeral home chapel and at the church  one hour before service time. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nell M. Helms, 1000 Moss St. in Dothan and will
receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 tonight.  Mrs. Clark was born in Barbour County, but moved to Dale County at an early age. She was the widow of Abbie Buford Clark.
Survivers, include four daughters, Mrs. Inez Finn, Mrs. Fox (Evelyn) Daughtry, Mrs. Nell Helms, and Mrs. Grady (Sue) Lee, all of Dothan.

Columbia- Mr. Tony Earl Hartzog Sr. 48, of North Main St. Columbia, died Friday, Nov. 04, 1994, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walter Hoskins officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8. Mr. Hartzog was born March 8, 1946, in Dale County, and lived the early years of his life in Midland City. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served for two years each in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his tour of active duty in 1971 he returned to Midland City. Mr. Hartzog was former employee of the Ashford, Cottonwood, Headland, Level Plains, Newton and the Columbia Police Dept. He had resided in Columbia for the past four years and served as Chief of Police while employed there. At the time of his death was employed at Alabama Electric Company of Dothan. He attended Wayside Baptist Church in Ashford. Survivors include his wife Sarah Appling Hartzog of Columbia; two sons and a daughter in law. James and Jamie Hartzog of Apopka, Fla., Tony Hartzog Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Kristina Wright of Columbia; two grandchildren, Matthew Blake Wright of Columbia and James Justin Hartzog of Apopka, Fla; four sisters, Linda Gilmore of Midland City, Jean Shupert of Brunswick, Ga., Merle Glover of Midland City, Betty McSween of Cottonwood; four brothers Harold Hartzog of Daleville, Jimmy Hartzog of Napier Field, Gerald Hartzog of Wetumpka and Fred Hartzog of Midland City; and several nieces and nephews.

early Monday morning, Sept. 14, 1992, following a long illness. The funeral will be held at 10
this morning in the Bethlehem Assembly of God Cemetery with Kent-Thornton Funeral Home of Dothan directing. Visitation will continue this morning at the funeral home up until one hour prior
to service time when the body will be placed in the church. The family will continue to receive friends at the residence of a niece, Wanda Aplin, 1103 West Woodland Ave., Dothan. A native of 
Barbour County, Mrs. Jarvis had lived there a number of years before moving to the cottonwood area some 45 years ago. A homemaker, she was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Ruth Aplin,
Dallas; five sisters in law, Gertrude Aplin, Dothan, Fannie Aplin, Marianna, Fla., Clifford Aplin, 
Phenix City, Edana Prevatt, Gordon, Lola B. Anderson, Lovetown; two step sisters in law,

died late Friday morning, Feb. 27, 2004 at her home. She was 86.

2004, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, near Eufaula, with Bro.
L. D. Woodham, jr., Bro. Mickey Skinner, Brother Jerry Gaston,
and Wiregrass Hospice Chaplain Richard Harden officiating. 
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

Mrs. Smith  was a native of Montgomery County but lived most
of her life near Baker Hill in Barbour County. She was an active
member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the choir and also
held several offices. Mrs. Smith was retired as the owner operator
of Jiminae's Beauty Shop. She was also involved as a co-owner 
and operator, with her late husband, in the operations of the family
farm. In earlier years, she was employed by infant Sock Mill and 
also the Barbour County Nursing Home both in Eufaula. Mrs. Smith
graduated from Sparks Technical College of Cosmetology in Eufaula.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, O. B. Smith, a son
in law, Thomas Wells; a sister Ruth Riley; and a brother, Pitt Eubanks.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Laura Richards, Eufaula and Jane Wells, 
Eufaula; two grandsons, Lonnie Richards and his wife, Cindy Richards, Eufaula and 
Roger Wells and his wife, Marlene Wells, Headland; two grandaughters, Carol Shaw and her husband, Gene Shaw, Clio, Ala. and Lorene Jones and her husband, Bill Jones, Eufaula;
