Samuel E. Stokes, born 1824, was a dedicated merchant and Civil War veteran from Clarke County, Alabama. Despite losing his wealth during the war, Stokes persevered, starting a business in Daphne, Alabama, with his remaining possessions and displaying admirable resilience and entrepreneurship.

Aimwell is located about four miles from Sweetwater. To get there from Sweetwater on Hwy. 10, go west about a mile and one half, to the intersection of country road 17. Turn right or north and go about three miles, the church and cemetery are on the right or east side of the highway.

Beulah Cemetery is located on Fort Rucker on 249 (Andrews Dr.) just inside the East Gate of Fort Rucker. I found many sites that were unmarked or had markers that were deteriorated over the years by mother nature and vandalism. In addition, I found a a report that was completed August 6, 1948*; I compared my findings with this report and have included the names from the report that I couldn’t locate markers for presently.
