APPERSON, Ann:
“The last tribute of love and respect to Sister Ann Apperson who passed out to the sweet beyond on February 12, 1912… She was born in Autauga County, Alabama, 83 years ago. She united with the Baptist church when she was about 15 years old… She leaves to mourn her loss nine children with a host of relatives and friends. Her body was laid to sleep in the Family Cemetery…(Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 287).
APPERSON, Annie:
“On October 11, 1918, the death angel bore away the sweet spirit of Annie Apperson. She was full of hope and anticipation of the future, but while man proposes, God disposes. She will be missed in the church, in the home, and in the community…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 283).
APPERSON, Bettie:
“On March 8th, 1923, the Lord saw fit to take away our beloved sister, Miss Bettie Apperson…She was born January 12th, 1858, and died March 8th, 1923, being seventy years of age at her death (NOTE: this doesn’t match dates)” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 274).
APPERSON, J.H.:
“In memory of Bro. J.H. Apperson, deceased 1934: Evergreen Baptist Church deeply sympathize with relatives and friends in the passing of our deceased Bro. J.H. Apperson… His wife …proceeded him to the grave several years ago. Having no children, they together have reared several, one of them Paul McGee, living with him when the end came…Bro. Apperson was a Mason for a number of years and was buried by that great organization in the Big Springs Cemetery.” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 261).
APPERSON, L.S.:
“On Wednesday p.m., March 17th, 1926, the death angel of our Lord visited the home of L.S. Apperson and bore him away to his maker. In his early years of his manhood he united with the Evergreen Baptist Church…The remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 269).
APPERSON, Mrs. Mollie:
“On Monday night, February 3rd, 1930 when Mrs. Apperson breathed her last, a most beautiful life was ended. Mrs. Apperson, who was Miss Mollie Wright before her marriage, was reared in Autauga County, being 70 years old at the time of her death. She had been in declining health for about 15 years but was confined to her room for about five years. She had no children of her own though she helped raise two families. She joined Harmony Church when quite a girl and when Evergreen was organized she was one of its charter members… She leaves a husband, two brothers, three sisters, and a host of friends and relatives…The funeral was conducted in Big Springs Church and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery on the church yard…”(Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 263).
BELL, T.A.:
“On the morning of March 11th, 1935, God in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to take from our midst our dearly beloved Bro. T.A. Bell. Brother Bell was born November 9th, 1882. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church until he united with Evergreen Baptist Church in August 1928… Bro. Bell leaves behind a devoted wife, one son, one daughter and a host of friends and relatives…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 260).
BISHOP, Mrs. R.J.:
“On December 5th, 1924, the death angel came and carried to rest the dear mother, sister, and friend, Mrs. R.J. Bishop… Mrs. Bishop was born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1848. She joined Harmony Baptist Church in her early girlhood days, and later united with the Evergreen Baptist Church…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 271).
CAFFEY, Mrs. H.M.:
“Resolutions of Sister H.M. Caffey: It has pleased our heavenly Father to take from us our Sister, Mrs. H.M. Caffey, one of the oldest members. She was born in Autauga County, Alabama, in 1832. Being 82 years of age, died July 25th, 1914… She was a sufferer for some time, but seemed to bear it with a christian spirit… She leaves four children, and many grand and great-grandchildren to mourn her loss…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 282).
CAFFEY, Jno. L.:
“God in his infinite wisdom has deemed it wise and best to remove from our church and community our beloved Brother Jno. L. Caffey, who departed this life on Thursday, October 27, 1904. Our deceased brother was 79 years old and a consistent member and deacon of our church. Bro. Caffey was baptized by Bro. George W. Mills in his early ministry and was the oldest member of our church…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 284).
CAFFEY, W.W.:
“Bro. W.W. Caffey was born December 16th, 1853 and died October 24th, 1932. He married first Miss Martha Jackson and there were born to them two girls and one boy. He later married Miss Fannie Arnold of Bibb County. To them were born two girls and one boy. He joined the church at Bethesda in 1883. The year following he became one of the members of Evergreen…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. -).
CAFFEY, Mrs. W.W.:
“Whereas it has pleased our all wise God to remove from among us our beloved sister, Mrs. W.W. Caffee…”- *Note the Resolution contains no dates (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 256.
CAVER, Minnie:
“Whereas it has pleased the all wise creator to remove from our midst our beloved sister, Minnie Caver who departed this life on the 17th day of June in the year of our Lord 1890…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 270).
CHERRY, J.W.:
“We your committee appointed at our last conference to draft resolution on the death of Bro. J.W. Cherry beg to offer the following: Where as Bro. J.W. Cherry was born in Autauga County July 25th, 1860, and had resided in the county all his life. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and five sons besides a large number of other relatives. He joined Evergreen Baptist Church in August 1907…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. -).
DAVIS, Thomas:
“Whereas the all wise Father has seen fit to take from us our dearly beloved brother, Thomas Davis who came in our midst a stranger…and joined the church with us in July 1889…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 276, November 23rd, 1889).
HESTER, W.C.:
“Mr. W.C. Hester was born in Autauga County, Alabama December 26th, 1886, and died in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama September 20th, 1937 after a brief illness. He joined Evergreen Baptist Church in 1912… He married Miss Eunice Jones in 1913, and she with two daughters survive him. The remains was laid to rest in the Jones Cemetery…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 253).
JACKSON, A.B.:
“Bro. Jackson was 67 years of age; was married in 1892 to Miss Emma Jane Wyatt, who survives him along with four daughters; Mattie, Annie, Fannie, and Lily. The body was laid to rest in the Big Springs Cemetery…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 258). *NOTE: Resolution had no date; it is assumed the death occurred in 1939-1940.
JACKSON, Andrew:
“Whereas it has pleased the all wise creator to remove from our midst our beloved brother, Andrew Jackson…we tender to the bereaved wife and family our sincere sympathies…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 278-279).
JACKSON, C.M.:
“…Death is constantly overtaking us. So it was with our friend and brother, Jim Jackson…”- *Note: Resolution has no dates or relatives mentioned (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 273).
JONES, David M.:
“On December (-), 1924, God in his wisdom saw fit to remove from our midst our beloved brother and coworker, Bro. David M. Jones. Bro. Jones was born October 2, 1845, and lived to be a ripe old age. He answered the call of his country back in the 60’s having served a time in the Civil War…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 272).
JONES, Mrs. Emily:
“Whereas it has pleased the all wise Heavenly Father to remove from our midst our beloved sister, Emily Jones who departed this life on the first day of September 1901. The deceased was 58 years old and has been a member of the church 36 years…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 253-254).
McGEE, Dora:
“Whereas it has been deemed wise and best by the God of peace and of the Universe to take from our midst our beloved Sister Dora McGee, whose spirit took its flight from this world on August 9, 1911. The deceased was (listed) in the constitution of the church here and was a devoted and faithful member…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 286).
OVERSTREET, Elizabeth:
“Whereas the death Angel has again claimed one of our members and whereas God in his infinite wisdom has seen fit to call Mrs. Elizabeth Overstreet higher to dwell with him…”- *Note: there are no dates or relatives mentioned in the resolution (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 277).
OVERSTREET, Hudson H.:
“Preamble and resolution of the death of hudson H. Overstreet- 1890…Evergreen church has been visited by the hand of death and has taken from our midst our dearly beloved brother…when the summons came he told his mother he was not afraid to die…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 266, February 14th, 1890?).
OVERSTREET, James Richard:
“On Friday morning, October 29, 1937 the death Angel visited our community winged to the great beyond the spirit of our beloved brother, James Richard Overstreet. Jim was born February 5th, 1880 and joined the Evergreen Baptist Church in early boyhood…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 254).
OVERSTREET, Mary:
“Whereas it has pleased the all wise heavenly Father to remove from our midst our beloved sister, Mary Overstreet who departed this life on (-) day of January, in the year of our Lord 1891. We as a church deem it our duty to record our high appreciation of the noble character and excellent qualities of the deceased sister…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 270-271).
OVERSTREET, Mrs. T.A. :
“On March 17th, 1940, God in his infinite love and wisdom called from our midst our sister Mrs. T.A. Overstreet. Mrs. Overstreet before marriage was Miss Thurs Wright. She was born Ocotber 4th, 1865….” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. -).
OVERSTREET, Mrs. W.A.:
“In the still quiet hour of November 6th, 1931, the death angel visited the home of Dr. & Mrs. M.A. Sellers of Birmingham and quietly escorted Mrs. W.A. Overstreet, their sister, to her heavenly home. Mrs. Overstreet was married to W.A. Overstreet of Autauga County on February 10th, 1915, and to them were born two daughters; Nora Vivian and Roberta. Mrs. Overstreet before her marriage was Mary Edwards Cox. She was born February 5th, 1895 and joined Evergreen Baptist Church at the age of 13… Besides a husband and two children, Mrs. Overstreet leaves four sisters and four brothers and a host of friends to mourn her loss…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 262).
SMITH, G.W.:
“Whereas on the 27th of March 1932, God saw fit to call home our Bro. G.W. Smith. He was born April 12th, 1851. (He was) first married to Miss Emily Overstreet November 18th, 1875; one child by this union who died very young. (He) was married to Miss Mary A. Motley December 28th, 1876. To this union ten children were born, seven of which are still living. He joined Bethesda Baptist Church in his young manhood, and later was ordained a deacon there. He came to Evergreen Baptist Church many years ago…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 267).
SMITH, Mary Ann Motley:
“As day dawned on the morning of August 22, 1937, the death angel visited the home of T.G. Smith and took to rest his mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Motley Smith. In early girlhood she joined Harmony Baptist Church and a few years later moved to Evergreen… she leaves seven children, fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Her husband having gone on a few years previous…” (Church Minutes, Book II, Pg. 252.).
TAYLOR, Mrs. G.W.:
“Whereas God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to remove from our church and community our sister, Mrs. G.W. Taylor. Before her marriage she was Miss Alice Bates. She was born February 12th, 1861 and died March 27, 1931. She was united in marriage to Geo. W. Taylor (on) December 26, 1875 at Milton. He survives her. To this union there survives fours sons and four daughters. Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Dr. G.M. Taylor, in Prattville. The remains were carried to Jones for interment…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 264).
WALLACE, H.E.:
“The scythe of time has again visited our church, and clipped the thread of life of Bro. H.E. Wallace. Bro. Wallace was born May 16, 1851; was married to Mary Adair on November 30, 1871, and died October 1, 1922. He united with the Baptist church early in life…he was a consistent member for fifty-two years. He was also a deacon for many years…He was buried in Harmony Cemetery with Masonic honors… He leaves two sisters, five children and many friends to mourn his loss…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 275).
WALLACE, Mrs. H.E.:
“Whereas it has pleased Almighty God to take from us our beloved sister, Mrs. H.E. Wallace…”- *Note Resolution contains no dates (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 278).
WALLACE, Jettie L.:
“Whereas it has pleased God in his infinite wisdom…to remove from among us… our dearly beloved sister, Jettie L. Wallace…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 260, August 20th, 1898).
WALLACE, Mrs. Mattie:
“Whereas it has pleased our all wise God to take from us our dearly beloved sister, Mrs. Mattie Wallace, who happily converted and joined our church in August, 1891…we tender our heart-felt sympathy to the husband and relatives…” (Church Minutes, Book I, pg. 262, June 20th, 1896).
WILLIS, Henry T.:
Whereas it has pleased the God of the Universe to call from among his laborers our Brother Henry Willis, who departed this life on the 26th day of March 1908. He was a worthy member of Evergreen Baptist Church having united with the same about 15 years ago…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 285).
WILLIS, Mrs. J.M.:
“Mrs. J.M. Willis of Evergreen Church near Billingsley, Alabama was born December 25th, 1862, and died April 21st, 1935. She professed faith in Christ early in life, uniting with Salem Methodist Church. After marriage she joined Big Springs Baptist Church, later moving her membership to Evergreen…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 259).
WRIGHT, Bettie:
“Mrs. Bettie Wright died at her home in Autauga County, Alabama. She was about 70 years of age. She was married to William Wright in 1882. Mrs. Wright was a devoted wife and a faithful christian…”(Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 281).
WRIGHT, Eliza:
“Again the veil of sadness and sorrow has been spread over our church and community by the death of Sister Eliza Wright who departed this life on the night of September 23, 1912. Sister Wright was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church; was in the constitution of the church here and was a devoted and faithful member with us. Sister Wright had lived to the ripe old age of 73 years…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 290).
WRIGHT, John L.:
“On October 3, 1939, our Heavenly Father saw fit to send his angel down and take from our midst our friend and brother, John L. Wright… Bro. Wright was born in 1862. Early in life he joined the Baptist church… In early middle life he was married to Miss Cora Jackson and to this union was born five children, two girls and three boys…” (Church Minutes, Book II, pg. 256).
