Jeremiah Walls

Looking for information on my Great Grandfather Jeremiah Walls, especially 1870 or 1890.

1844 – Carroll County, GA. – Marriage of Jermiah Walls to Mary Ann Howard on March 17, 1844

(Not sure that this is my family.)

1850 – Randolph County, AL – Census: Jeremiah WALES, age 30, and wife Polly, age 23.

(Not sure that this is my family.)

1860 – Talladega County, AL: – Census: Jeremiah WALES, age 43, wife Polly, 30, daughter Sarah, 10 (Not sure that this is my family.)

1873 – Clay County, AL. – Marriage of Jere Walls to Betsey Hudson recorded. (Have copy)

(Believe that first wife died. Family stories are that he was a widow with children when he married Elizabeth “Betsey” Hudson.)

1880 – Etowah County Census (Have copy):

Jeremiah, born SC, age 65, disabled; wife Elizabeth, age 33; daughter Eliza J., age 15; sons: ThomasJ, age 14; Jeremiah, age 11 (my grandfather); George W., age 9; John J. (Joe?), age 5; John H (John Wesley?), age 2.

(Believe that there were probably older children due to his age.)

1883 – Marshall County – Marriage of Elizabeth Walls to Jacob Baker (Do not have copy.)

1900 – Tallapoosa County – Census lists Elizabeth (Elithebeth) with sons Joseph S, 23; Oscar B. 17.

Families of Thomas and Jeremiah (Jerry Mier) are listed in Tallapoosa County census.

No further information on daughter Eliza J. shown in the 1880 Etowah County census. Found a marriage of Liza Walls to George Chandler, Marshall County, 1893.

I have information on brothers Thomas [m Arizona Smith], Jeremiah [m Leathia Guthrie], George [m Evie Farrow], Joe J. [m Catherine McCarty], Henry Clay [m Dovie Farrow], John Wesley [m Willie Huey], Oscar Baker [m Ann Garnett].
