Died Sunday Night
Mrs. William L. Jones, 79, at her home late Sunday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jones, a lifelong resident of Prattville, was held in the highest esteem by her friends and acquaintances, as was her husband, the late William L. Jones, who died last November.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. F. Wright and Mrs. W. L. Thornton, Prattville, and Mrs. Joe Curlee, of Atlanta; four sons, Otto, Clarence, Willie, and Edward, all of Prattville; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from Griffin Funeral Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. Joseph Avery of Greenville, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Griffin in charge. Pallbearers were Messrs. Leon Thornton, Elmer Wright, Howard Jones, Ira McKinney, Wilbur Mathis, and Gordon Gray. Acting as honorary pallbearers were Messrs. J. W. Rice, A. B. Colley, Neil Sanford, J. R. Kilpatrick, B. J. Smith, Dayton Rawlinson, Charlie Chancey, W. M. McHearg, Walter Vinson, Johnnie Boone, Jasper Buckner, and Lewis Gillespie.
